South Africa Program
HIV/AIDS has taken a huge toll on families in South Africa. Many children have been left orphaned, or are living with a desperately ill parent. When their parents die, the older children in the family often take on the responsibility for caring for the younger family members. While this allows the family to stay together, it is often difficult to provide the basic nutrition, medical care and education that the children need.
For some time, we partnered with The Emmanuel's Wish Foundation to provide support to these young families. Funds raised provided a caregiver who made regular visits to households, and who ensured that all children were cared for, had their medical needs met, and were attending school regularly. Food packages were also provided. Through this unique program, young families were given the means to flourish.
